EndNote X9

EndNote is available as:

• a desktop software application, for which UCL has an institutional licence; The current version available at UCL is EndNote 20, although EndNote X9.3.3 is still available to download from the UCL Software Database. This guide is for EndNote X9.3.3. A guide for EndNote 20 is also available.
• a web-based application (EndNote Online, previously EndNote Web) which may be accessed by anyone from any device with internet access. Access to the full version of EndNote Online is included in UCL's EndNote licence.
• a free iPad app. There is no app available for Android or other mobile operating systems.

You can use them independently, or synchronise them so you can work with your EndNote references from any device: your own computer, on the Web or on your iPad.  The online and iPad versions do not have all the functionality of EndNote desktop.

EndNote X9.3 introduced a new database engine to EndNote. EndNote X9.3 and later libraries are not backwardly compatible with older versions of EndNote. When you open a library created in earlier versions in EndNote X9.3 or later, you will be prompted to create a new converted library.
