How your library team can support you

  • Have a question not covered by this guide? Need help with referencing? Problems finding an article? Queries about your research or a literature review? You can email your library team direct to ask any enquiry about library services and resources. Just click the 'Email me' button on the right hand side of this guide.
  • You can book a virtual appointment with your library team for more in depth enquiries, for example to ask for help with literature searching.
  • Need a book we don't have in our collection? Follow this link to email SoP Library to suggest a book purchase.

Library Skills@UCL

Find loads more content on our Library Skills pages - see a selection below, and a link to the LibrarySkills@UCL landing page. These tutorials and guides are more generic to suit most subject areas, but contain step-by-step instructions to ensure success with library and information literacy concepts throughout your degree programme. Remember to book onto one of our workshops if you want some face-to-face help (see the LibrarySkills@UCL training box on this page).

Help with academic writing

In the library, we won't be able to help you with:

  • coming up with a question or research area;
  • structuring your essay/project;
  • writing skills, such as appropriate tone;
  • proof reading.

However, we can point you in the right direction to people and resources that can help.

For subject-specific questions, you should always approach your tutor/supervisor in the first instance.
