Other Libraries

To locate material, not available in UCL libraries, you can use Library Hub Discover: an online catalogue that gives you access to details of materials kept in many UK national, academic and specialist libraries.

  • Senate House Library has strong collections in languages, the arts and social and historical sciences. Any registered member of UCL can join the library and borrow from there. You can pre-register online.
  • The British Library holds one of the leading research collections in the world for the study of Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and the former USSR. UCL staff and students can apply directly for reference access.
  • COSEELIS (Council for Slavonic and East European Library and Information Services) provides a directory of all UK institutions and libraries  that have expertise, research interests in, and teaching programmes, as well as information resources related to Central, East European and Slavonic Studies.

Using other UCL libraries

Did you know you can use the spaces and collections at any of UCL's 17 libraries?
When you check a book's location on UCL Explore, it will tell you which library it is located at. Most of UCL's libraries are located in the Bloomsbury Campus.

The libraries you might need to use include:

  • Science Library, Malet Place
  • Main Library, Wilkins Building
  • Bartlett Library, Upper Woburn Place: architecture, planning, construction and project management
  • Institute of Education, Bedford Way: in addition to Education they have a strong multidisciplinary collection.
  • Cruciform Library in the Cruciform Hub, Gower St: Clinical Medicine. There are other medical and health libraries you may want to use too, including the Queen Square Library for Neurology and the Language and Speech Science Library.

See more details about these libraries and their opening hours on the Library Services webpages.
