Systematic reviews

Systematic reviews

This guide provides an overview and signposts to some of the elements of systematic reviews and systematic literature searching. It introduces the main elements for people new to using systematic reviews or undertaking them.

There is substantial literature on the approaches and methods for undertaking systematic reviews, both practically and from conceptual perspectives.

This guide is intended to be cross-disciplinary. While some research fields may vary in approaches and expectations of a systematic review, common principles include having a clear rationale for the approaches taken and transparent reporting of the methods.

The links in the guide provide more detailed discussion of the debates of practical and conceptual considerations in the design, conduct, reporting and use of systematic reviews.
