ASIL Electronic Resource Guide: International Human Rights Law
A guide to online sources of in international human rights law, compiled by the American Society of International Law (ASIL).
OSCOLA 2006: Citing International Law
Provides guidance on citing sources of international law such as treaties, decisions of the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, and publications of non-governmental organisations such as the United Nations.

Human Rights Organisations

African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights
The African Charter established the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights. The Commission was inaugurated on 2 November 1987 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Commission’s Secretariat has subsequently been located in Banjul, The Gambia.
ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR)
AICHR has responsibility for the promotion and protection of human rights in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Council of Europe
The Council of Europe promotes human rights through international conventions, such as the Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence and the Convention on Cybercrime. It monitors member states' progress in these areas and makes recommendations through independent expert monitoring bodies. Council of Europe member states no longer apply the death penalty.
Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR)
The IACHR is a principal and autonomous organ of the Organization of American States whose mission is to promote and protect human rights in the American hemisphere.
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
The ICRC is an independent, neutral organization ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence. It takes action in response to emergencies and at the same time promotes respect for international humanitarian law and its implementation in national law.
International Labour Organization (ILO)
The ILO is devoted to promoting social justice and internationally recognized human and labour rights, pursuing its founding mission that social justice is essential to universal and lasting peace.
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
UNESCO's mission is to contribute to the building of a culture of peace, the eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue through education, the sciences, culture, communication and information.
United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF)
UNICEF is responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide.
United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR)
OHCHR is the leading UN entity on human rights. It serves as the secretariat for the Human Rights Council, the treaty bodies (expert committees that monitor treaty compliance) and other UN human rights organs. It also undertakes human rights field activities.
United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, was established in the aftermath of the Second World War, and has been protecting people forced to flee conflict and persecution for over 70 years.

International Courts

African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights
The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights is a continental court established by African states to ensure the protection of human and peoples’ rights in Africa. It complements the functions of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR)
The European Court of Human Rights is an international court set up in 1959. It rules on individual or State applications alleging violations of the civil and political rights set out in the European Convention on Human Rights.
Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC)
The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia is a special Cambodian court which receives international assistance through the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials (UNAKRT). The court is also informally known as the Khmer Rouge Tribunal or the Cambodia Tribunal.
Inter-American Court of Human Rights
The Inter-American Court is one of three regional human rights tribunals, together with the European Court of Human Rights and the African Court of Human and Peoples’ Rights. It is an autonomous legal institution whose objective is to interpret and apply the American Convention on Human Rights.
International Court of Justice (ICJ)
The ICJ is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. The Court’s role is to settle, in accordance with international law, legal disputes submitted to it by States and to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by authorized United Nations organs and specialized agencies.
International Criminal Court (ICC)
The ICC investigates and, where warranted, tries individuals charged with the gravest crimes of concern to the international community: genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression.
International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR)
Legacy website of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Since the ICTR’s closure on 31 December 2015, the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals maintains this website as part of its mission to preserve and promote the legacy of the UN International Criminal Tribunals.
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY)
The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia was a United Nations court of law that dealt with war crimes that took place during the conflicts in the Balkans in the 1990s.
Special Court for Sierra Leone (SCSL)
The Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone was established by an agreement between the United Nations and the Government of Sierra Leone to oversee the continuing legal obligations of the Special Court for Sierra Leone after its closure in 2013. These include conducting contempt of court proceedings, witness protection, supervision of prison sentences, and management of the SCSL archives.

World Cinema Collection : Films on Demand Streaming films from Africa, America, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, from the silent era, the mid-20th century, as well as award-winning contemporary works.
