Planning your search

A scoping search is a brief search for literature to get an understanding of the extent of the research that exists on that topic.

It can range from a quick and dirty search in a resource like Explore to help you define your topic for an assignment, to a more thorough initial search for published and unpublished studies to inform a research proposal.
