SSEES Languages and Culture

To locate material, not available in UCL libraries, you can use Library Hub Discover: an online catalogue that gives you access to details of materials kept in many UK national, academic and specialist libraries.

The following libraries are within easy reach for UCL students with notable collection in relevant subject fields. 

• Senate House Library has strong collections in languages, the arts and social and historical sciences. Any registered member of UCL can join the library and borrow from there. You can pre-register online.
• The British Library holds one of the leading research collections in the world for the study of Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and the former USSR. UCL staff and students can apply directly for reference access.

Additionally, COSEELIS (Council for Slavonic and East European Library and Information Services) provides a directory of all UK institutions and libraries  that have expertise, research interests in, and teaching programmes, as well as information resources related to Central, East European and Slavonic Studies.

• If you identify a piece of information that would be beneficial to your research and you can't access it via UCL, the library will try and source a copy for you via the Inter Library Loans service. 
• To make a request: log into UCL Explore and then click on the three dots 'show more' menu to access the Inter Library Loan Request form.
