Cochrane Library

A guide to searching and using the Cochrane Library

Applying limits to your results

There are three ways to view a sub-set of your search results.

View individual sections by selecting the tabs across the top of the search results to view contents from each section of the Cochrane Library, e.g. Trials.

Use Filters: when you are viewing a list of search results, you can use the filters on the left to further refine the results, e.g. by date, language, Cochrane topics (e.g. Child Health), type of study (e.g. intervention / diagnostic).

Apply Limits: click the Limits button on the right of any search step to choose one or more limits. This will restrict your search results to find only those of a particular content type, from a particular year, etc. It is recommended to apply limits to the final step in your search.
