Philosophy

A subject guide for the Department of Philosophy

Books and e-books

The Philosophy Collection is located along the South corridor on the first floor of the Main Library in the Wilkins building.

The Classics Collection is off the North corridor and contains works about Classical Studies generally but also Greek and Latin language and literature.

The UCL Explore is the main tool to find books, journals and other materials (either in print or online) held in UCL libraries. On the catalogue, you will find the location details of the materials you are looking for: Library, Collection and Shelfmark.

The books are arranged according to the Garside Classification system, here is further information about the organisation in the Philosophy Collection and the Classics Collection.

For further help with finding, using and citing e-books, take a look at our Electronic books (e-books) Guide.

Inclusive Library Collections

Decorative imageUCL Library collections have been developed over 200 years. Some material reflects historic and structural inequalities in the university and in society. Today, as we work on ensuring our current collecting policy and practice supports and reflects a fully inclusive range of voices and perspectives, we still, on occasion, acquire material which is required for teaching and research that may be considered harmful or offensive. Find out more on our Inclusive Collections webpages.
