PubMed’s Clinical Queries feature allows you to restrict your search using a range of sophisticated search filters. It is designed for use by clinicians looking for high-quality evidence for the practice of evidence-based healthcare. You can restrict to research papers in specific clinical research areas such as diagnostics and therapies. Clinical Queries can be accessed from the PubMed Find list on the PubMed homepage.
The Clinical Study Categories can search Therapy, Clinical Prediction Guides, Diagnosis, Etiology and Prognosis:
You can also search for articles specifically about Covid-19 using the Filter Category radio button. When you select COVID-19 you can search categories such as Treatment, Prevention, Diagnosis and Transmission:
You can also add a filter to limit the results to systematic review.
The filter is on the left hand side of the screen. Scroll down to ‘Article Type’ and tick the box ‘Systematic Review’:
If you are using PubMed and you would like to go beyond the in-built filters then you can take advantage of other pre-designed search filters such as those available on the ISSG search filter resource. These search filters are search strategies designed to capture articles on particular topics or methodologies.
