What is ProQuest?

The ProQuest interface provides access to databases covering a variety of subjects, ranging from specialist subjects to much broader topic areas. You can access databases individually or search across more than one database at a time. It also provides access to ProQuest Central, which is a large multidisciplinary database and covers a wide range of subjects, so can be a useful source for a variety of subject areas.

Which databases are available through ProQuest?

Here are some of the key databases available via the ProQuest platform. You can see a full list of all the databases available through the platform by accessing any ProQuest database and then selecting the 'Change database' option on the ProQuest menu.

ProQuest Central ProQuest Central is the largest multidisciplinary database with over 11,000 titles, with over 8,000 titles in full-text. Over 160 subjects areas are covered including business and economics, health and medical, news and world affairs, technology, social sciences and more. Accessibility statement for ProQuest Central.
Periodicals Index Online Database of millions of citations for articles published in the arts, humanities and social sciences, across more than 300 years. Journals indexed span 37 key subject areas and multiple languages. Accessibility statement for ProQuest.
Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals (ProQuest) Comprehensive tool for research in architecture, urban design, historic preservation, and urban planning history.
ABI/INFORM Collection (ProQuest) Search a complete database comprising full-text business periodicals and news sources from ABI/INFORM Global, Dateline, and Trade & Industry. Accessibility statement for ABI/INFORM Collection (ProQuest).
Library & Information Science Abstracts (LISA) This database currently abstracts and Index of journal articles in librarianship and information science, including archives and records management.
ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global Includes millions of searchable citations to dissertation and theses from around the world from 1861 to the present day together with over a million full text dissertations that are available for download in PDF. The database offers full text for most of the dissertations added since 1997 and strong retrospective full text coverage for older graduate works.
ProQuest One Literature ProQuest One Literature contains 3 million literature citations from thousands of journals, monographs, dissertations, and more than 500,000 primary works – including rare and obscure texts, multiple versions, and non-traditional sources like comics, theatre performances, and author readings. EconLit See the LibrarySkills@UCL guide to EBSCOhost. This database can be accessed by no more than 4 users at a time. Index of international publications on economics, with selected abstracts.
ASSIA Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts ASSIA covers the literature of health, social services, psychology, sociology, economics, politics, race relations and education. The database abstracts and indexes over 500 journals and periodicals from 19 countries, including the UK and US
IBSS: International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (ProQuest) Index of literature in the social sciences and related subjects.
ERIC (ProQuest) Index to journal articles and research reports in education, including citation and abstract information from over 750 educational journals and related documents.
