Best practice guidance: library skills videos

A guide to creating library skills videos

Visual identity and branding

To ensure a consistent visual identity and accessibility, all UCL library skills videos should have:

  • Branded opener: includes UCL-branded title page, with a choice of colours, and sliding transition to next page;
  • Branded closer: includes UCL logo;
  • Optional: section titles with a choice of coloured rectangle backgrounds.
  • Dialogue / audio, to include:
    • Introductory sentences explaining what the video is about. For example, say the title or 'In this video / tutorial we will...' or 'This tutorial / video covers...'..
    • Closing dialogue to indicate it is the end of the video. For example, say 'This concludes this video / tutorial on...'
  • Closed caption subtitles.

The Camtasia template includes these elements.

If you are using other software to create your video, such as PowerPoint, see our guidance on Branding in applications other than Camtaisa.
