This guide is a resource for UCL Library Services staff members who are creating or editing content in LibGuides, for subject guides or online skills pages. It outlines how we use LibGuides at UCL, to maximise user experience by ensuring consistency in arrangement, language and content wherever possible.
Please review this guide before creating or editing content for the first time, and return to it regularly as a refresher. LibGuides is the platform that we use for subject guides and online skills content. Used by hundreds of academic libraries across the world, it enables us to create visually engaging guides to resources, and instructional content. Features include the ability to embed multimedia, reuse content across multiple guides, and embed widgets such as catalogue search boxes, and the instruction calendars in LibCal.
Please note: although the name of the platform is LibGuides, we won't be using that term in liaising with our users. We'll continue to use the terminology online skills and subject guides.
