This guide for UCL library staff is to provide guidance on designing, planning and delivering synchronous training sessions, i.e. live online or face to face training, both as part of bookable scheduled training programmes and for particular user groups, such as for academic programmes or other specific groups.
It includes:
- Platforms: Guidance to help you decide which platform to use to deliver live online sessions.
- Lesson design: Sessions may be completely synchronous or make take a 'flipped' approach, with asynchronous materials as a pre-requisite to joining a live online or face to face session. The contact time can then be used to best effect, for consolidating learning, providing opportunity for practical application of skills, interactivity, assessment and feedback and Q&A.
- Session description: Guidance on putting together a description for your session to ensure objectives and expectations are clear, all necessary information is included and there is consistency across the service.
- Administration and bookings: For sessions included in our bookable scheduled programme, key notes for trainers and more in depth information on how booking arrangements are administered.
- Facilitator notes: Use these notes / checklists when delivering a session to make sure the session runs smoothly.
