Reading Lists @ UCL

A guide for UCL teaching and academic staff.

Supporting Print Disabled Students

If you are aware of print disabled students on your module you can help in them to access readings and resources in the following ways:

Support from the ReadingLists@UCL team

In addition, you can alert the ReadingLists@UCL team and we will prioritise checking the reading lists for your print disabled student. Set up your online reading list then let us know you would like it reviewed and the deadline it is needed for. If chapters or extracts from print books are required please add a 'Library note' to flag which chapter / pages you would like digitised and these will be processed as usual under the CLA licence (these readings are available for your whole class).

We will:

  • check readings link to e-resources (where existing e-journals and e-books are already held by the library).
  • liaise with the Library Accessibility team to add links to any relevant digitised readings available via RNIB Bookshare (with a note to indicate the e-reading is only available to those with an RNIB account and login).
  • where there are print only resources, we will recommend them for purchase as e-texts (where available, and affordable).
  • if any readings are still not available on the reading list electronically (but available in print in the library) we will let you know which they are, and copy in the Library Accessibility Team, who will continue helping the student 1:1 with sourcing these.
