Install the bookmarking extension

Use the Bookmarking Extension to add resources to your reading list. The Bookmarking extension icon sits on the extensions toolbar of your browser. You only need to add it once. Follow the instructions below or watch the video on the right panel.

To add the Bookmark extension:

  • Navigate to the ReadingLists@UCL home page (readinglists.ucl.ac.uk) and log in. You can use any browser, but the examples below show how to add the button to Firefox or Chrome.
  • Click on ‘My Bookmarks’ then ‘Install the Bookmarking Extension’.

  • Click on the green button ‘Install bookmarking extension’. You can also watch the video that explains how to install the bookmarking extension.

A new window will open showing links: to the video 'How to Bookmark' and further down with direct links to the installation of the Bookmarking button on different browsers: Chrome, Edge, Opera, Firefox and Safari. Select the link for the browser you use and follow the instructions on the screen.

You will also see an option to install the bookmarklet manually.

Please note that Talis is updating its bookmarking extension.The new version for Chrome has been released and it should automatically change and update without users having to do anything.

The new icon is now a bright green circle with a T in the middle. If you cannot find the bookmarking extension on Chrome follow the steps below: 

  • Select the Jigsaw icon on the Exension toolbar.
  • Click on the Pin icon next to Talis Aspire.
  • You should now be able to see the 'T'' icon.

Generally in Firefox the 'Talis' icon is visible as soon as you install the Extension, but if you cannot see it.

  • Select the Jigsaw icon on the Exension toolbar.      
  • Click on Manage Extensions. .
  • On the page that open, you will see a list of Extensions, click on the toggle next to Talis to make the Extension visible. 
  • Remember to check also under the Disabled extensions list.

Please note: The first time you click on the Talis extension to bookmark an item, after you have first installed it, you will be asked to specify your institution: from the drop down menu, select  ‘University College London’ then save. You will only need to do this once
