One of the most useful features of web-based bibliographic software is being able to quickly ‘capture’ the reference you’re looking at online in a couple of clicks by installing a connector or bookmarklet into your browser.
The Zotero Connector provides the ability to save references from most library catalogs and databases, and even some regular web pages, with one click. (Zotero has published a list of compatible sites.)
If Zotero detects that you're looking at a book or article on a catalog, database, or a site like Amazon, LibraryThing or the New York Times, you'll see a different icon appear.
These examples show how the book icon, the journal article icon and the PDF file icon will appear.
Just click the icon and Zotero will automatically save the citation.
Please note: To capture references with the Zotero Connector you have to make sure that you are either logged in the Zotero Web library or you have your Zotero desktop running otherwise the Connector will not have anywhere to save the reference to!
Always check your references to make sure they have imported correctly, check that the details are completed, accurate and with information in the correct fields.
If you think that information is incorrect or missing you can correct this:
To install the Zotero connector go to Zotero.org.
