Once you have added some citations to your document you can create a reference list. Place your cursor at the end of your document where you would like your reference list to start and go to the Mendeley Cite add-in window (via the button the Word toolbar).
Select the 'More' menu, and then click on the 'Insert Bibliography' button, in the drop-down.
The bibliography will be formatted according to the selected citation style.
Each time you add a citation or make changes to your citations, the bibliography will restructure itself accordingly. For example, if you are using a numbered style and you choose to insert new citations early in the document, the bibliography will also re-number itself.
Creating an independent bibliography in Word
If you wish to add an independent bibliography to your word-processed document, one for references not also cited in the text of your document, you must copy and paste references in Mendeley Reference Manager, one-by-one, as follows:
Right-click the first reference you wish to copy
A menu opens with Copy Formatted Citation as the top option; select the option.
Open your word-processed document, and place the cursor where you want your bibliography to start.
You will need to repeat the steps above to copy all the other references you are including in your bibliography.
