In this section we look at the various ways to add references to your Mendeley Reference Manager library. The method(s) you use will depend on how you work and manage your research. You can also add references to your Mendeley Web library.
Where possible, you are advised to obtain references from online sources, such as databases or publishers' websites. In this section we cover:
Exporting from online resources: Most databases will allow you to export your results into reference management software.
Adding references from the Mendeley Web Catalog: Find and save references that other Mendeley users have added to their libraries.
Adding a reference manually: This is necessary in some cases where you cannot find the references from an online source.
Importing PDFs to your Mendeley library: Automatically generate records in your library with the full text attached.
Adding references from another reference management package: For example, if you were using EndNote and want to swap to Mendeley.
Editing a reference: For example, to add or correct information.
