Library Skills: synchronous (live and face to face) training guide

Guidance, best practices and suggestions on how to design and deliver synchronous library skills training.

Attendee numbers

Log in to LibCal to see how many bookings your session has. You can also see how many places are remaining in the public view of the calendar. The total number of places available is in the scheduling spreadsheet so you can then work out how many places are booked. We normally experience about 30-50% no-show.

If a session becomes full, new registrants are added to a waiting list. In LibCal you can see how many people are on the waiting list. Trainers can choose to increase the maximum number of registrations for online sessions if they wish. Face to face session capacity is dependent on room capacity. When the maximum number is increased in LibCal, people are automatically pushed from the waiting list to the confirmed registrants list.

If no one turns up for the session, after 15 minutes you can leave the session and send an email to all registrants to explain that the session was cancelled owing to no attendees joining up to 15 minutes past the scheduled start time. See Contacting attendees after the event.
